The Belarusian Defense Ministry announced that it is in the process of preparing combat missiles.
In a Telegram post on February 24, the Belarusian Defense Ministry shared a video showing several military vehicles transporting missiles and captioned it: "According to the combat readiness strategy, one of the units The missile is moving to the designated area".
February 24 marks the 1 year anniversary of Russia opening a special military operation in Ukraine. Since the outbreak of hostilities, Russian troops are said to have been stationed in Belarus, which shares borders with both Russia and Ukraine. However, the Belarusian side avoided direct involvement in the conflict.
On February 18, the Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said that Ukrainian military intelligence forces are monitoring the activities of the Russian side in Belarusian territory around the clock.
"We see Belarus seems to be supporting Russia, while still trying to refrain from entering the war in any way possible. We also see how Russia is putting pressure on them," said Andrii Cherniak, representative. Representative of the Defense Intelligence Service of Ukraine told ITV News in the UK.
An update of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Service warned that the Belarusian military may be subject to the orders of President Alexander Lukashenko "and may soon be involved in a special Russian military operation".
A few days before the Ukrainian Defense Ministry released this latest intelligence, President Lukashenko mentioned the conflict in Ukraine and outlined a hypothetical scenario in which Belarus would enter the war.
"I will fight with the Russians from Belarusian territory only in one case, when at least one Ukrainian soldier comes to our territory and kills my people," the Belarusian state press service BelTA quoted as saying. said Mr. Lukashenko.
"If they provoke Belarus, the answer will be very clear," he stressed.
President Lukashenko added that although he did not want to fight, Russia was a "legal, moral and political ally".
After the press conference, Hanna Liubakova, a non-resident member of the Atlantic Council, said that from these comments it can be seen that President Lukashenko wants to send a signal to the West that he is not involved in any Any escalation on the Ukrainian and Belarusian fronts will not get further involved in this war.
