Foo Fighters to perform in the metaverse after the Super Bowl

 The band Foo Fighters announced a musical performance in the Horizon Worlds metaverse by Meta, the company that owns Facebook.

The show will take place on February 14, 2022, starting at 1 a.m. ET — right after the conclusion of Super Bowl LVI, the final of this year's U.S. soccer tournament featuring the Cincinnati Bengals. and the Los Angeles Rams.

The broadcast is free to everyone, but it's specifically aimed at those who have a device from Virtual Reality's Oculus line and download Horizon Venues, the company's free metaverse app.

Presentation is also in 2D

Those who don't want to follow the event with a headset can also enjoy the 2D presentation on Facebook, from the events page.

According to the official statement, the presentation will feature "a blend of Reality and Mixed Reality effects," with real and virtual elements interacting with each other. The broadcast will be directed by Mark Romanek, a recording industry veteran who has directed clips like "Shake It Off" (Taylor Swift), "Hurt" (Johnny Cash) and "Can" 't Stop" (Red Hot Chili Peppers) .

Performances in the company's metaverse have only just begun, but the first performances in this format have been warmly received by the public.
