President Biden: Russia's hypersonic missile "almost impossible to intercept"

US President Joe Biden confirmed that Russia had used hypersonic missiles to target targets in Ukraine, noting that the weapon was "virtually impossible to intercept".

Over the weekend, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had deployed two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles against Ukrainian military targets.

On March 21, a US Defense Department official said that they could not confirm information that Russia used a missile capable of flying 10 times faster than the speed of sound. However, US President Joe Biden on the same day confirmed the incident.

"Russia launched a hypersonic missile because it's the only weapon that can reliably break through (Ukraine's) defenses. As you know, it's a weapon with a warhead like any other. what fire Moscow has launched before. It doesn't make much of a difference, except it's almost impossible to intercept. Russia certainly has a reason to decide to use this weapon," Biden said.

Mr. Biden surmised that part of the reason why Russia decided to deploy Kinzhal missiles was because Moscow seemed to face damage in the past due to fierce resistance from Ukraine.

Previously, US officials have repeatedly said that Ukraine, with the help of weapons from the West, has slowed the momentum of Russian forces in the military campaign that Moscow launched in the neighboring country from the 24th. /2.

Hypersonic missiles are weapons that can fly at least 5 times the speed of sound. In addition to its high speed, it also has a very different trajectory from conventional rockets. This makes it a very formidable weapon against enemy defenses. In addition, Russia's Kinzhal missile can also carry a nuclear warhead, which makes it flexible and powerful as a deterrent to adversaries. Experts say that the reason why Russia decided to deploy Kinzhal in Ukraine was to send a tough warning message to the US and the West about Moscow's military might.
