 An adviser to the President of Ukraine made a comment on the time to reach a peace agreement with Russia amid intense hostilities.


In an interview with Russian journalist Mark Feygin on March 14, Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, believes that a peace agreement with Russia can be reached within 1-2 weeks at the earliest. and at the latest in May.


According to Arestovych, Ukraine can reach a peace agreement with Russia "early May", possibly even "much sooner".


Mr. Arestovych added that, if the two sides do not reach a peace agreement within the above time period, then "at the end of May, after the next round of negotiations", the conflict will continue to erupt.


Mr. Arestovych predicted that, even if the two sides reach a peace agreement, local fighting could still linger across Ukraine within a year.


The statement of the adviser to the Ukrainian president came in the context of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations announcing the suspension of the Wednesday talks on March 14 and expected to resume today on March 15.


"Negotiations are paused until tomorrow for the subgroups to further prepare and clarify the definitions of each side's positions. Talks will continue after that," Ukrainian negotiating team member Mykhailo Podolyak said. know.


Podolyak affirmed that Ukraine's position remains unchanged in negotiations with Russia, in which Kiev still wants the two sides to reach a ceasefire before conducting further negotiations on future relations.


Podolyak said that the Ukrainian delegation wanted to negotiate with Russia on the contents of peace, a ceasefire, an agreement to withdraw Russian troops from Ukraine and ensure security for Kiev.


Russia and Ukraine have undergone 4 rounds of negotiations, including 3 rounds of face-to-face negotiations and the most recent round of negotiations taking place in an online form.
