Ukraine revealed how 3 EU leaders entered Kiev in 24 hours under bombs

According to Ukrainian railway officials, on the train carrying three EU leaders to the capital Kiev on March 15, there were only delegations and security forces.

On March 15, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa boarded a train from Poland to the Ukrainian capital Kiev to support Ukraine.

They announced the trip schedule while on the way to Kiev, despite the danger to life in the midst of the conflict in Ukraine. Oleksandr Kamyshin - Executive Director of Ukraine's national railway system - called this action of the three EU leaders "spontaneous".

Three European leaders chose to come to Kiev when this place is at the center of the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict. Therefore, keeping the schedule secret is necessary to ensure safety, especially when Ukraine's railway system has not been immune to air raids in recent days. However, while on his way to Kiev, Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki unexpectedly posted a post on Facebook to announce the visit. Czech Prime Minister Fiala also announced on Twitter.

"I'm keeping them a secret but I've seen the information published online. I'm surprised. I don't understand it," Mr. Kamyshin said.

Security concerns have always been on the mind of the 37-year-old railway leader of Ukraine since hostilities broke out on February 24. Kamyshin and his colleagues spent three weeks traveling around the country, believing that the railway administration was a bomb target. "I even told my children not to reveal my position because that's what everyone understands in this situation. But I cannot direct European prime ministers to do so," he said.

According to Kamyshin, the three European leaders arrived in Kiev by train, believing it to be the safest means of transport, even though a train station in Zaporizhzhia was hit by a bomb on the morning of March 16, shortly after their visit.

Mr. Kamyshin said: "Any intelligent person would choose train over car in this moment. Even with bombs everywhere, stations and trains are still the safest places in the country at the moment. this".

He added that the delegation of the three leaders arrived in Kiev on a train with four sleeping carriages. Apart from the three prime ministers, the only passengers on the train were members of the delegation or security forces. Their entire train journey took about eight hours and they spent several hours meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky, then catching an overnight train back to Poland.

The three leaders of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia are the first foreign heads of state to visit Ukraine since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out three weeks ago. The visit is seen as symbolic, demonstrating Europe's support for Ukraine.
