He explained that one of the reasons the Sarmat is so difficult to intercept is that despite being a liquid-fueled rocket, it has the ability to accelerate as fast as a fuel-powered light rocket. snake.


Russia will test the Sarmat throughout the year, and the military will begin receiving the rocket in the fall of 2022, according to Dmitry Rogozin, head of Russia's state space agency Roscosmos.

Sarmat was developed at the Makeyev Missile Center (part of Roscosmos) and manufactured at the Krasmash plant. According to experts, the RS-28 Sarmat is capable of carrying MIRV warheads weighing up to 10 tons to any point in the world across the North Pole and South Pole.


MIRV or multi-warhead technology refers to the fact that Sarmat can launch multiple warheads at the same time. Depending on tactics, each warhead can hit targets hundreds of kilometers away.


In addition to the warheads, Russia says that the Sarmat will be developed to carry the Avangard hypersonic launcher - a weapon that can travel at more than 20 times the speed of sound. This is considered a factor that makes it an unstoppable "power" in the Russian arsenal.
