Sweden is wary of military conflict with Russia

Sweden is preparing for a possible conflict with Russia, after it took steps to apply to join NATO.

The National News reported that in recent days, the Swedes are starting to prepare for a military conflict with Russia once the government decides to officially apply to join NATO.

The people of the capital Stockholm are said to be actively stocking up on essentials, including food, water, and fuel to prepare for a military conflict in the not too distant future.

In addition, "survival" items such as special water tanks, rechargeable radios, or camping stoves are also being sought by many Swedes.

The Swedish government is also taking steps to prepare for the worst possible scenario. Experts say the threat is being taken seriously.

Currently, the Swedish government is urgently recharging fuel depots for the power plant and large oil reservoir at Vettenfall, which were built for use during the Cold War.

Sweden is also concerned about Russia's attack on Gotland, an island strategically located in the middle of the Baltic Sea and just 250 kilometers from a Russian naval base in the Kaliningrad region.

Given its position, Gotland plays a key role in enabling NATO forces to deploy to defend Finland and Sweden in the event of hostilities.
