The pilot of the US storm-hunting super plane was accused of abusing government property

The US military has announced that the crew of the WC-130J Super Hercules will be severely fined for using military aircraft for private purposes.

Military Times reported that members of the storm squadron of the 53rd weather warning squadron at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi will receive heavy fines.

This fine comes after an investigation by the US Air Force confirmed that the crew made an unauthorized landing to transfer onto this storm-hunting aircraft a 1970 BMW R75/5 motorcycle, before when transporting it to its final destination in the state of California. The motorcycle is said to have belonged to a member of the crew.

"The landing and personal use of military aircraft is a serious abuse of government property. We always demand that our service members act with the highest standards and responsibility. This action will therefore not be tolerated," said Lieutenant Colonel Marnee Losurdo, the squadron's direct leader.

This incident happened on March 27. Immediately after receiving the report of the unauthorized landing, "the leadership of the US Air Force detained the crew and sent another crew to California to pick up the storm-hunting aircraft back to base". Currently, the detailed punishment for the crew has not been announced.
