UK pledges to nearly double aid to Ukraine

British officials announced that the country will provide an additional 1.3 billion pounds (about 1.6 billion USD) in aid to Ukraine on the eve of talks between G7 leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Reuters reported that an aid package worth 1.3 billion pounds has been proposed by the British government to be delivered to Ukraine.

The money is expected to be used to buy more weapons and help solve the humanitarian crisis that has been going on in the country since the conflict with Russia broke out.

This latest pledge will nearly double the total amount of UK aid to Ukraine. The British government also revealed this is the highest spending on a conflict since British troops entered wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Russia's military campaign not only damages Ukraine but also threatens the peace and security of Europe," British Prime Minister Boris Johnson explained for the government's huge aid decisions.

Last week, Mr Johnson became the first Western leader to address Ukraine's parliament since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

It is known that Britain is one of the leading countries in providing military and financial aid to President Zelensky's government.

Anti-tank missiles, air defense systems, armored vehicles, and many other personal weapons have been transferred by the UK to the Ukrainian army in recent days.

Even so, the West still expressed concern about Britain's cautiousness in dealing with Europe in dealing with all Ukrainian refugees.

The British government on Saturday said it had only accepted visas for 86,000 Ukrainian immigrants out of a total of more than 5 million who have left the country since Russia launched a special military operation. here.
