On his personal Facebook page, the Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny published photos of a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer with the name Caesar being used by the Ukrainian army to deal with the military operation. Russian special.

Regarded as one of the most modern self-propelled howitzers in the world, Caesar batteries were sent to Ukraine by France as part of a Western effort to modernize Ukraine's military.


"Caesar is a new generation of self-propelled artillery. It allows the Ukrainian army to fire on the enemy with high precision at a distance of 20 km or more from the front line. At this distance, Ukrainian artillery units can can easily suppress and destroy Russian command posts, vitality as well as artillery units, thereby reducing the enemy's combat power.In addition, the simple operation mechanism helps Russian soldiers. We quickly grasped the method of fighting with this weapon," Commander Zaluzhny said.


Mr. Zaluzhny did not forget to thank the French government for this timely support and affirmed that Caesar self-propelled artillery will play an important role in the counter-attack effort of the Ukrainian army.


The Caesar self-propelled howitzer uses a 155 mm howitzer mounted on the chassis of a wheeled truck using a Renault engine. Caesar's grenades can fire at a rate of 6-8 rounds per minute and can fire a series of 3 rounds within 18 seconds. Normally, Caesar's range is 34 km, but can be increased to 55 km if using VLAP rockets. With a light weight and a travel speed of up to 100 km/h, this self-propelled gun is said to be very suitable for combat conditions in Ukraine.
