Ukraine's richest man threatens to sue Russia for losses in Azovstal

 Ukrainian billionaire Rian Akhmetov threatened to sue Russia for the damage he suffered after the Russian army's siege operation in the Azovstal industrial zone, Mariupol city.


Rinat Akhmetov, Ukraine's richest man with an estimated fortune of $4.7 billion and owner of the Azovstal industrial complex in Mariupol, said he plans to sue Russia over military damages. caused by this country after a series of attacks on the city of Mariupol in recent times.


According to estimates, the total damage that Azovstal industrial park in particular suffers can be up to 17 billion USD to 20 billion USD.


"We will definitely sue Russia and demand proper compensation for all the losses and loss of business," the president of Ukraine's largest steel producer Metinvest told reporters.


According to billionaire Akhmetov, since Russia conducted a special military operation in Ukraine, the hostilities occurred in the giant steel manufacturing industrial park Azovstal, which prevented Metinvest Group from delivering orders. Akhmetov's other companies had to settle debt obligations on behalf of Metinvest.


Billionaire Akhmetov's business has struggled since the conflict in eastern Ukraine broke out eight years ago. Eastern Ukraine has always been known as the capital of heavy industry of the country and is the base of many production plants of the Metinvest group.


When asked about the future of Ukraine in general and his business empire in particular, Mr. Akhmetov still expressed strong belief in the eventual victory of his country. "I believe in our final victory," said billionaire Rinat Akhmetov.
