The military situation in Donbass, Eastern Ukraine is fierce and Russia has gained an additional advantage thanks to its overwhelming firepower.
The head of the Lugansk region Serhiy Gaidai confirmed on June 21 that Russia had taken control of a number of settlements near the cities of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk - hot spots of fighting between Kiev and Moscow over the past few weeks.
"Unfortunately, the opponent has deployed a large number of troops and weapons and controlled the town of Toshkivka in the south of Severodonetsk," Gaidai said.
In addition, Ukraine also confirmed that Russia also controls a number of settlements in Pidlisne and Myrna Dolyna, south of Lysychansk.
With an overwhelming advantage in long-range firepower, Russia is gaining an advantage over Ukraine in strategic cities in the East. Russia now controls most of the Donbass.
The leader of the Russian Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov said that their special forces had targeted Ukrainian forces in the breakaway Lugansk region (LPR).
Kadyrov posted a video of Chechen special forces fighting in Eastern Ukraine and emphasized that their tactics are improving every day by destroying enemy formations and preventing Ukraine from regrouping. .
He alleged that Ukrainian forces had been hiding in houses, but the Chechen special forces had evacuated the people before that. Therefore, the Chechen side opened fire on the house that Ukrainian forces used to hide.
"I have said many times and will repeat to the Ukrainian forces: No matter how you run, no matter what you do, you will not win this confrontation. By continuing to confront, the you will only bring your own end closer," Kadyrov wrote.
Meanwhile, the LPR militia continued to call on the Ukrainian forces to lay down their weapons and said that, in the previous days, a number of Ukrainian servicemen in the region had surrendered.
Ukraine has repeatedly called on the West to speed up its aid to heavy long-range weapons in recent years due to the huge disparity between Kiev and Moscow in terms of weapons. However, the handover progress is not as good as Ukraine expected because of many problems that make them continue to find ways to deal with Russian forces in Donbass.
