The Russian parliamentarian said that Moscow is estimated to lose 22 billion a year after the oil embargo from the EU. "However, given the increase in energy prices due to Western sanctions and the fact that Russia will redirect its exports to the Asian market, the damage can be offset," he predicted.


Mr. Volodin said that Europe is currently facing the problem of skyrocketing energy prices and will "have to pay an additional 250 billion euros ($268 billion) a year". "The US is doing everything to ensure that the main burden of Russia sanctions falls on European countries," he alleged. He warned that the EU could face weakening economic consequences and "increasing dependence on the US".


Lawmaker Volodin also emphasized, by overcoming Western sanctions, Russia will become stronger.


Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western sanctions against Russia hurt their own economies, as well as cause a global crisis.


"These sanctions are the main cause of the global crisis. With their short-sighted political ambitions and anti-Russian ideology, the authors of those sanctions have harmed their own national interests. them, their economy, the life of the people," Putin said.
