Special ambulance helicopter delivered by Germany to Ukraine

The Armed Forces of Ukraine received a light ambulance helicopter from Germany.

The Ukrainian army has received a Bo-105 light helicopter from Germany. The special thing about the Bo-105 that Berlin sent to Kiev this time is that the helicopter has been stripped of all weapons systems. Therefore, it is likely that this helicopter will be used for the transport of wounded soldiers and other goods.

The Bo-105 helicopter has been manufactured since the 1970s by the German contractor Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm. Before the Bo-105 production line stopped in 2001, about 1,200 of these light helicopters were built and mainly served in the German army.

Designed with the main purpose of reconnaissance and transport, the Bo-105 can still be fitted with additional lethal weapons when needed. Experts say the Bo-105 can carry two weapons suspensions that can mount eight TOW anti-tank missiles or missiles with a total payload of up to 500kg. For the ambulance mission, this helicopter can carry 4 ambulance stretchers and 2 crew members.

Despite initial apprehensions, in recent days the German government has begun sending heavy weapons to Ukraine. On June 21, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that German 155mm caliber Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers had been assigned to the artillery force of this country. It was the first time Germany had sent heavy weapons to a conflict zone since World War II .
