In an interview with the Financial Times published on October 7, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the tension between mainland China and the island of Taiwan is completely solvable.

"My suggestion is to find a model of a special administrative region for Taiwan. It's a reasonable proposition, but it may not satisfy everyone."

On the other hand, Mr. Musk warned, if a conflict in the Taiwan Strait broke out, it could disrupt the supply of goods made in China to the West, and global GDP could drop by up to 30%.

China has always considered Taiwan an inalienable part of its territory and declared its readiness to reunify at any cost, including by military force.

At a press conference late last month, spokesman for China's Taiwan Affairs Office Ma Xiaoguang said that Beijing is willing to make efforts to peacefully reunify the island of Taiwan. "Unification is certain," Ma asserted.

China has proposed a "one country, two systems" model for Taiwan, similar to Hong Kong, and opposes any outside efforts to interfere in Taiwan affairs. However, so far, Taipei has not supported this proposal.

Cross-Strait relations escalated recently after Tsai Ing-wen took office. China persuaded Taiwan's seven allies to sever diplomatic ties with the island and establish ties with Beijing.

In addition to the Taiwan issue, last week, billionaire Musk also unexpectedly proposed a plan to end the conflict in Ukraine.

According to him, first, Moscow needs to conduct new elections under the supervision of the United Nations in the four territories recently voted to annex to Russia. During the election period, Russia must withdraw its troops from these territories.

He suggested that Ukraine should recognize Crimea as part of Russia, like the period from 1783 to the time when former Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev decided to donate the peninsula to Ukraine in 1954. He also suggested that Ukraine should commit to it. maintain neutrality, which Moscow requested long before launching a military operation in the neighboring country in February.

"This will most likely be the scenario to end the conflict," billionaire Musk commented.

However, this proposal was immediately met with harsh reactions from Ukrainian authorities. Kiev has repeatedly stated that it will never give in to its territory to reach a peace agreement with Moscow. Ukraine said that negotiations will only take place when it regains all of its territory, including the Crimean peninsula, or Russia agrees to withdraw all its troops from Ukrainian territory.
