Russia attacked 200 Ukrainian targets, sending forces to the southern front line

 Russia claimed to have attacked 200 Ukrainian targets, while Kiev said Moscow was putting troops and military equipment down near the front line in Kherson to block the Ukrainian counter-attack.

The Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said on October 9 that Moscow forces shot down 6 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of Ukraine and 9 missiles HIMARS, Uragan, Olkha in the past 24 hours in Nikolayev, Donetsk, Kherson and Kharkiv.


According to Konashenkov, Russian warplanes, missiles and artillery hit more than 200 Ukrainian military targets in the past day.


"Strikes by tactical and aviation aircraft, missiles and artillery hit the headquarters of the 14th and 81st motorized brigade of the Ukrainian army, the 9th regiment of the Guards. Ukrainian national troops in Redkodub in Kharkov, Drobyshevo in Donetsk and Zaliznichnoye in Zaporizhia, along with 47 artillery units at firing positions, as well as personnel and military equipment in 163 areas," the Russian official said.


In addition, Konashenkov said that fighter jets of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Su-24 and a Mi-24 attack helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Nikolayev and Kherson regions.


Moscow destroyed four Ukrainian ammunition depots and missile/cannon weapons and two US-made countervailing radars, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.


The Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a precision strike against a Ukrainian ammunition depot for the HIMARS and Uragan multiple launch rocket systems in Nikolayev, according to Konashenkov.


In total, Russia claims that, since the beginning of the military operation, it has destroyed Ukraine's 476 military aircraft, 2,182 drones, 379 surface-to-air missile systems, 5,570 tanks and vehicles other combat armor, 866 rocket launchers, 3,460 field guns and mortars, 6,431 special military motor vehicles.


Meanwhile, Ukraine's Southern Operations Command on October 9 said that Russia is pouring more forces and equipment to stop Kiev's advance in the region.


"Russia systematically launched fire on Ukrainian positions along the demarcation line and in the vicinity. The rear areas were attacked by S-300 systems, missiles and suicide drones. To prevent momentum Ukraine's advance, the area has been planted with mines. Russia is sending more troops to the Ukraine area to maintain the momentum - about 200 troops and dozens of weapons systems," the statement said.


In addition, Ukraine says, Russia is using unmanned aerial vehicles to track the route and location of Kiev. Ukraine claims to be using weapons to shoot down these UAVs.


Ukraine says its air force has carried out 99 strikes against Russian targets. In the Black Sea, Ukraine says Russia is maneuvering 11 ships off Ukraine, including six that are capable of carrying missiles, including two submarines. The ships are on high alert with 40 Kalibr missiles.


According to the Ukrainian side, in 24 hours, Russian forces on the southern front lost 44 servicemen, 2 Grad multiple launch rocket systems, 10 armored vehicles, 4 120mm mortar systems, and 2 tanks.
