EU highly appreciates Vietnam's determination to remove the yellow card for seafood

Mr. McAllister said that Vietnam has shown a great political determination to quickly resolve this issue. He also revealed that another EU inspection mission will be sent to Vietnam this year before the decision on removing the yellow card for Vietnamese seafood is made.


On this occasion, Mr. McAllister also highly appreciated the growing relationship between the European Union (EU) and ASEAN in general and Vietnam in particular. According to the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, Vietnam has been playing the role of the EU's "gateway to ASEAN".


"Vietnam is an important partner of the EU in the region, especially with your active role in the ASEAN region. Vietnam is our gateway to ASEAN," said Mr. McAllister.


On the occasion of his business trip to Vietnam, Mr. McAllister shared that the delegation of European parliamentarians had meetings and discussions with high-ranking officials of the Vietnamese Party, National Assembly and Government.


At these meetings, the European Parliamentary Delegation discussed with the Vietnamese side many urgent issues of mutual concern, focusing on three main areas: the political situation and national security and defense. worldwide, clean energy development and human rights.


According to Mr. McAllister, the upheaval in geopolitics, especially in Europe with the Russia-Ukraine conflict in the past year, has led to many global consequences. These upheavals have posed risks of instability not only in Europe but also around the world.


The European Parliament therefore calls on states to support a rules-based world order that strictly adheres to the provisions of the United Nations Charter. Mr. McAllister also noted the valuable humanitarian aid that Vietnam has sent to Ukraine.


The situation in the East Sea is also an issue actively discussed by the delegation of European parliamentarians during their business trip to Vietnam.


According to the Chairman of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, the EU supports the principles of freedom of navigation and overflight, and encourages the parties concerned to resolve their differences peacefully, in accordance with the law. internationally in the South China Sea.


The EU highly appreciates Vietnam's contributions to maintaining freedom of navigation as well as its coordination with ASEAN countries to develop a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.


Mr. McAllister affirmed that Europe will continue to support Vietnam in promoting maritime security, cyber security and crisis control. He highly appreciated Vietnam's participation in UN peacekeeping missions.
