The Turkish minister narrowly escaped the accident while inspecting the earthquake area

The Turkish Health Minister encountered an unexpected incident while inspecting an earthquake-stricken area in Hatay province.

According to Turkish media, the incident happened in the early morning of February 16 when Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca was talking with doctors at a makeshift hospital.

When the group was standing around the coals to warm up, suddenly the fire exploded, sending sparks around.

Minister Koca and the others quickly moved to safety.

Journalist Adem Metan, who shared the video of the incident, said Minister Koca's team had informed him that the official had no problem.

More than 36,000 people were killed and more than 108,000 injured in many Turkish provinces when a 7.6 and 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck on February 6. In neighboring Syria, the disaster claimed the lives of more than 5,500 people.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the quake as the "catastrophe of the century".
