Russia announced a raid on Ukraine's elite Azov Regiment headquarters

In an update on the military situation on March 5, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, said that the Russian army had caused a lot of serious damage to the Ukrainian side.



"A command of the Azov Regiment was hit in the area of the village of Maryevka in the Zaporizhia region," Konashenkov said.


The Azov Regiment is an elite unit of Ukraine and is regularly deployed by Kiev to areas of fierce conflict with Russia. Considered as having a lot of combat experience, the Azov soldiers caused many difficulties for the Russian army.


Konashenkov also confirmed that the Russian military conducted shelling and hit 83 Ukrainian artillery points. In Donetsk, 210 Ukrainian soldiers were also removed from combat after joint firepower attacks by Russian warplanes and artillery.


In the Kherson region in southern Ukraine, a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry revealed that Ukraine had lost 30 soldiers, 10 military vehicles, and many batteries of self-propelled artillery and howitzers in the past 24 hours.


Ukraine's unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) command centers were also destroyed in Donetsk and Kharkov, along with many advanced electronic warfare equipment.


"Ukrainian command centers for drones and electronic warfare equipment were destroyed in the settlement of Avdeevka in the Donetsk People's Republic and the settlement of Dvurechnaya in Kharkov," Lieutenant General Konashenkov said.


In addition, Russian air defense complexes have also conducted interception operations, causing relatively large damage to the Ukrainian side.


"Our air defense systems shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force at the settlement of Dimitrov in the Donetsk People's Republic. In addition, six rockets from the rocket launcher were launched. series of HIMARS and Smerch as well as 12 UAVs of the Ukrainian army have also been removed from the battle," Konashenkov stated.


Ukraine's Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the information. Earlier, in a statement released on the same day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the Ukrainian army repelled 130 Russian attacks within 24 hours.


The agency revealed that Ukraine's defense efforts have caused great damage to the Russian military. In just one day, Russia lost 930 soldiers, 5 tanks, 9 armored vehicles, 12 artillery batteries, a rocket launcher, 5 drones and 12 military vehicles.
